Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) is an organic compound with formula C6H4(CO2H)2. The main raw material for polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polyester fibers is produced by oxidizing paraxylene.
Polyester fibers are used mainly in rugs, clothing, furniture and industrial applications, as well as other consumer products.
