Wire and cable product segments are divided into and for 2 main applications which are power cable and telecommunication cable.

Power Cable Segment

  1. Low Voltage Cable

    Low-voltage (< 1kV) power cables, these cables have an outer sheathed plastic layer which is made of PVC or LLDPE black compound and the cable insulation layer is made of Silane XLPE compound

    Medium voltage power cable (1 kV to 35 kV), this type of cable will use MDPE black compound or HDPE black compound for cable jacketing or outer sheath for environment resistance and to prevent damage during installation.

FAQ Troubleshooting for Wires and Cables Product

  1. Q : Temperature of polymer melt too low

    A :
    1. Increase extruder temperature profile
    2. Increase die temperature

  2. Q : Poor polymer melt quality

    A :
    1. Adjust temperature profile
    2. Adjust screw speed
    3. Use finer screen pack

  3. Q : Small bubbles in the surface, due to Excessive moisture in the raw material.

    A :
    1. Use materials from sealed, undamaged containers
    2. Pre-dry materials before use in dehumidified tray oven
    3. Use hopper-dryer

  4. Q : Cavities due to air bubbles insulating the cable from water in the cooling bath.

    A : Remove bubbles from cable surface by stirring water or passing through a rubber shield wiping them off.

  5. Q : Poor die design

    A : Decrease die land length / increase drawdown

  6. Q : Die misalignment

    A : Align the face of die

  7. Q : Heater(s)/Controls not working properly

    A : Check thermocouples and heater bands

  8. Q : Surging

    A :
    - Check drive performance or check unitmechanical/electrical
    - Use screw with longer feed or metering section
    - Decrease extrusion rate or die temperature
    - Use more restrictive screen pack to increase back pressure
